  BRIEF HISTORY OF ALCOY NHS

With the joint efforts of former Mayor Catalino de los Santos, the Sangguniang Bayan members, former Congressman Gaudencio Beduya, Brgy. Captain Eusebio Sestoso, and the good civic-spirited people of Alcoy, AlcoyMunicipal High School was established in 1972.

First year and second year classes were opened. Seventy-four students were enrolled with only three teachers. Mr. Libor was the principal and Mr. Saniel acted as the assistant principal.

Two years later, in 1974, third year and fourth year classes were opened with 190 students. Two new teachers were added to handle other subjects.

Student's population increased gradually each year and more teachers were hired and more buildings were constructed to cope with the growing numbers of students.

After – years, Alcoy Municipal High was changed to Alcoy National High School – with increasing number of students and teachers.

In 2002, ANHS Alumni President and Mayor  of the Municipality of Alcoy initiated the first ever ANHS General Homecoming. Former classmates, friends, schoolmates and acquaintances met after years of toil and hardwork in their quest for a better future.

Presently, Alcoy National High School, with its location in the heart of the town, 92 kilometers south from the city has more or less 778 students with 25 dynamic teachers headed by the active Principal I, Alicia M. Beduya.
